Evening Pie Making Workshop

with The Pie Ladies

Come join us Sunday, August 28th for an afternoon of pie baking with Okanagan Stone Fruit- Cherries, Peaches, Apricots, Nectarines & Plums! Together we'll chat fruit, sugars, starches, perfecting flaky crust, and create a fruit pie.  We'll be working with local and organic ingredients sourced from around here.  While the pies are baking, we will have some snacks and drinks.

Nibbles & drinks included! 

This workshop is perfect for understanding the foundation of pie making and pastry techniques. Everyone will walk away with a pie, a booklet of recipes and tips, and a few new friends. 

TOPICS COVERED:

Summer fruit

Flakey pie crust (All butter vs. shortening)

The best Peach and Cherry pie fillings.

Understanding natural pectin, starches and sugars.

How to work with organic flours, fats, oils, 

Creating decorative edges and tops with pie dough

Expressing yourself through pie.

WHEN: Sunday, August, 28th, 3 P.M. to 6 P.M. 

WHERE: The New Pie Shoppe at 1875 Powell Street, Vancouver, British Columbia . We are located in the middle of the city. Class size is limited to 12 folks. You will be provided with aprons, rolling pins, a pie plate and tasty eats. Workshops will involve wheat flour. Our space is not gluten free, nor is any of the snacks provided. Keep in mind our kitchen is small, so this workshop will be very intimate and cozy.

 

CANCELLATION: Should you need to cancel you will receive 75% of your money back up to two weeks before the class date.  If you cannot attend, yet it is past the refund date, you are welcome to send a friend in your place.
