Hey! This workshop is priced out for X 2 people.

Join us at the shoppe on Wednesday, February 13th for an evening of baking. We'll make our grandfather’s favourite winter pie. We’ll talk about sweetener, starches, perfecting a flaky crust, and make a seasonal  fruit pie from our menu at a time when the winter markets still have some good tree fruits such as apples and pears .  We'll be working with locally grown organic  fruit and freshly milled West Coast grain.

**While the pies are baking in the oven, we’ll have some tasty nibbles & drinks.

This workshop is perfect for couples, date night, and friends, though Tinder dates might be awkward.

You will learn some tricks to make a good pastry dough.

Everyone will go home with a whole pie that they have made.


Winter fruit + preparing fresh vs. frozen fruit for a pie filling.

Making a flakey pie crust: animal based fat vs. plant based fats

The best apples + pears for pie filling.

Understanding natural pectin, starches and sugars.

How to work with fresh milled organic flours.

WHEN: Wednesday, February 13th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm

WHERE: At the new Pie Shoppe 1857 Powell Street, Vancouver, British Columbia . We are located in the middle of the city. Class size is limited to 12 folks. You will be provided with aprons, rolling pins, a pie plate and tasty eats. Workshops will involve wheat flour. Our space is not gluten free, nor is any of the snacks we provide. Keep in mind our kitchen is really small, so this workshop will be very intimate and cozy. 

Note: Please mark down the date + time of your booking on either your smart phone, icalendar, or old fashion pen and paper and stick it on your fridge. Once you have proceeded to the check out and payed for the workshop, we will will not be sending you a reminder.

CANCELLATION: Should you need to cancel you will receive 75% of your money back up to two weeks before the class date.  If you cannot attend, yet it is past the refund date, you are welcome to send a friend in your place.
