Panoramic began on a rooftop in Kitsilano, where Stephanie French roasted beans in small batches for neighbours and friends. What started as a personal project grew into something larger: a mission to bring ethically sourced, seasonal coffee to Vancouver. When The Pie Shoppe opened its doors on Powell Street, Panoramic moved in as the house roaster.
The roasting philosophy is simple. Source the best beans you can find, roast them with care, and let the coffee speak for itself. No dark roasts hiding bad beans. No shortcuts. Just honest coffee from farmers who grow with intention.
Every bean Panoramic roasts is certified organic and fairly traded. Stephanie works directly with importers who maintain transparent relationships with small plot farmers in Central America, East Africa, and Southeast Asia. The farms are small, the yields are modest, and the quality is exceptional.
Seasonality matters as much in coffee as it does in fruit. Beans arrive at different times of year from different origins, and the offerings rotate accordingly. What you taste in January will be different from July, and that is the whole point.
At The Pie Shoppe, coffee is brewed by hand. Pour Over or Aeropress, one cup at a time. There is no espresso machine. This is intentional. Hand drip brewing brings out the distinct character of each origin, and it gives you a moment to slow down while your cup is made.
